A resident of sunny Arizona Dr. Jessica Brereton Peterkin, affectionately called "Dr. JessB", is a family dentist, speaker, author, and mentor. Having practiced in the Valley of the Sun since 2015, Dr. JessB served as owner and lead dentist of private dental practice Breton Family Dental, PC for 5 years, where she passionately provided comprehensive family dentistry to multi-generational families of the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Upon answering the call for greater impact in purpose, Dr. JessB recently transitioned from private practice ownership to non-profit work, advocacy, community empowerment, and consulting. With a passion for educating the community about oral-systemic health connections, Dr. JessB simultaneously serves on various boards of organized dentistry. Through advocacy as a former director of the board in the Central Arizona Dental Society and serving the under-served, under-represented populations on the Arizona State Medicaid Advisory Committee, Dr. JessB intentionally uses her platform as a community leader to positively affect change. By paying it forward through educating the next generation of dental healthcare providers, Dr. JessB volunteers countless hours as a site-preceptor for dental assisting students in addition to serving as a pre-clinical adjunct professor and mentor for pre-doctoral and pre-dental students.​

 

Through her own experiences with postpartum complications as a BIPOC mother, Dr. JessB is a committed advocate for improving
Maternal Infant Health outcomes within the BIPOC birthing community. This compels her to be a consistent helping hand in providing many service-based opportunities for displaced and low-income families including free dental screenings, examinations, cleanings, fluoride, oral hygiene instruction & other dental services through her non-profit organization Ministry of Dentistry Inc.  The newest initiative, Teeth & Tatas, exists to improve BIPOC Maternal Infant Health outcomes through nutrition, oral health, and wellness including birth education (Bradley Method), dietary & lactation counseling, perinatal mental health support, and lip/tongue tie release.

Dr. JessB is a multi-faceted woman with many interests that afford her an opportunity to connect with diverse populations as she simultaneously serves as a mentor, author, orator, and even a performance artist in the areas of dance, theater, and voice.​
